Further Information
This desk is situated between the two desks containing the Civilian 1939-1945 Books of Remembrance.

It was provided in 1946 by the Guild of Friends "In recognition of the Naval Fire-Watchers who saved the cathedral from the assaults of the enemy 1941-45" and in memory of Chief Petty Officer Richard Comben who was killed at the end of one such tour of duty.

It is interesting to note that whilst the nearby Naval Dockyard suffered 67 air-raids the Cathedral itself survived unscathed.
